  • PAULETTE BANSAL | REVEAL PRINTMAKERS

Paulette Bansal printmaker and founding member of Reveal Printmakers < BACK www.paulettebansal.com paulettebansal@gmail.com Insta: @paulettebansal Paulette Bansal I am a Manchester based artist working primarily in the field of Printmaking. I work from a home studio space and am a member of Hot Bed Press. I exhibit regularly with this local print collective and individually and had my first solo show in Manchester in December 2022. In 2023 I was a resident artist on the AA2A programme at Artlab Contemporary Print Studios, UCLan and in 2024 was selected to join the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts as an associate. My current practice examines the unearthing of memories through inherited objects. I have been meticulously recording the varying marks and handwriting mainly through drawing and intaglio printmaking techniques; etching, collagraph and Chine Colle. Different series of prints have evolved focussing on selected individual objects from the archive. In 2023 I began to rethink the objects through a new concept resulting in a site-specific installation ‘Moments in Time’ at Victoria Baths in Manchester. 72 large screen prints became the focus of the installation which stretched out along the floor of the now empty pool area. My most current series of works explore printed collage medium on board encouraging experimentation for new ideas. These disparate printed elements are combined into a new, cohesive whole. • ALISON SANDFORD | REVEAL PRINTMAKERS

Alison Sandford printmaker and founding member of Reveal Printmakers < BACK Insta: @alisonsandfordprints ali@thesandfords.plus.com Alison Sandford I live and work in the beautiful South Lakes, overlooking Morecambe Bay. My prints use screenprint, linocut and waterless lithography techniques to create both black and white and bold colour images. The starting point for my work are the fascinating shapes, patterns and textures from nature found in the local environment. To draw attention to these, often unnoticed, natural organic forms by close up observation and reinterpretation. My main subject areas are trees, plants and vegetables I grow in the garden or find on walks. I enjoy the observation, development and the physical process involved in printing, which creates a series of problems to be solved, resulting in the final, hopefully successful, printed image. I am a member of Reveal Printmakers, Hot Bed Press, Salford and Iron Press, Lancaster. • BRIDGET SCHILIZZI | REVEAL PRINTMAKERS

Bridget Schilizzi printmaker and founding member of Reveal Printmakers < BACK bridgetschilizzi.co.uk b.schilizzi@gmail.com Insta: @bschilizzi Bridget Schilizzi I’m interested in the freedom to express my ideas that the different printmaking media offer. For me, these processes have ranged from drypoint and etching to the more recent discovery of screenprint and the joy of working in colour that screenprint invites. My inspiration comes while working on sketches and collages using materials gathered over time, or in response to current issues, from reading or sometimes through the simple act of playing with colour, shapes and marks. Although I think of my work as tending towards the abstract, a recurring element is often a figure or object which maybe a metaphor for the underlying narrative. And it is the emotion from, or engagement with, this story that occupies and gives me energy while working. • JAYNE PELLINGTON | REVEAL PRINTMAKERS

Jayne Pellington printmaker and founding member of Reveal Printmakers < BACK jaynepellington.com jaynepellington@yahoo.co.uk Jayne Pellington I studied Fine Art at Manchester Art School and am a printmaker specialising in Etching (intaglio) and Linocuts. My current work comprises of a series of landscapes. I have a particular interest in the contrast between old functional buildings such as mills and warehouses which are often re-invented for modern use, and historic landmarks alongside sharp, modern architecture. My work begins with a series of photographs and drawings of the places I choose as my landscapes. When I study and work on them later I decide which to select to use in a print. Etching, for me, is a continuation of the line drawings on paper on the etching plate itself, and part of the process is experimenting with the marks that can be made on the plate to enhance the image. I don’t have a fixed idea of how the print will look - it evolves as part of the process. My Lino Prints begin by looking at the shape and forms around and within the buildings and printing blocks of colour to represent the shapes. With each layer of colour the image gradually emerges. • YVONNE WALTERS | REVEAL PRINTMAKERS

Yvonne Walters printmaker and founding member of Reveal Printmakers < BACK yvonnewalters.com ywprints@gmail.com Insta: @yvonnewalters Yvonne Walters The desire to create is what led me first to a career in graphic design, and more recently, to printmaking. The joy of learning something new, the anticipation of the reveal and being part of a creative group are all aspects of my printmaking journey... Based in Lancashire I am surrounded by a varied landscape, providing an abundance of inspiration which forms not only the basis of my work but provides comfort in its certainty and cyclical nature. My background in graphic design continues to influence my prints as I explore the sculptural forms and textures observed within the landscape; be it the line of a fence, the texture of a hillside or the contrast between land and sky. Although I gather a great deal of photographic research, I work mainly from memory. My intention is to avoid any literal interpretation but rather to conjure a moment, a glimpse along the way. Often, when I think about the title later, I discover that I also have an emotional connection to what the image represents. • LESLEY JOHNSON | REVEAL PRINTMAKERS

Lesley Johnson printmaker and founding member of Reveal Printmakers < BACK www.lesleyj.co.uk lesleyj@btinternet.com Lesley Johnson I am a print and textile artist living in Lancashire, alongside my home studio I work out of Hot Bed Press in Manchester as a member of the Reveal print group. As a textile artist with a deep-rooted passion for patchwork and quilting my artistic exploration is a fusion of tradition and innovation, honouring the age-old artistry of quilting while embracing the boundless possibilities offered by traditional printmaking techniques. I feel the organic qualities of shape, stitch and texture work together to create a balance which I incorporate into my print techniques to convey a delicateness to my imagery. I enjoy deconstructing geometric shapes and re-balancing the form within squares and rectangles as either a Collagraph or Etched on zinc plate before adding a layer of chine-collé to accentuate the colour and texture, this allows combinations of imagery to be developed that can be repeated or act as a standalone image. • KATE DOWNES | REVEAL PRINTMAKERS

Kate Downes printmaker and founding member of Reveal Printmakers < BACK katedownes@rocketmail.com facebook.com/kateprints katedownes.co.uk Kate Downes My practice is rooted in the everyday – the overlooked, the familiar, the quietly personal. From landscapes and still life to a favourite pair of brogues or the contents of my pockets (why is there always a conker in there?), I find inspiration in both the mundane and the meaningful. Social issues often weave their way into my work as well, making my sources of inspiration broad, ever-evolving and at times, overwhelming. The abundance of ideas is both a blessing and a creative hurdle. When I translate these ideas into print, I aim to distil a subject to its essence – capturing mood, character, or atmosphere through bold forms and simplified shapes. While I work across various printmaking techniques, I frequently return to etching for its tactile quality and depth. My aesthetic draws from the striking forms and vivid palettes of pop art and graphic illustration. I am constantly exploring different techniques, media and styles. I often wrestle with a desire to loosen my style – to let go and embrace spontaneity over precision. It’s a slow unravelling of structure, and perhaps part of the journey itself. I’m not there yet; I’m still working on it.
