Alison Sandford
I live and work in the beautiful South Lakes, overlooking Morecambe Bay. My prints use screenprint, linocut and waterless lithography techniques to create both black and white and bold colour images.
The starting point for my work are the fascinating shapes, patterns and textures from nature found in the local environment. To draw attention to these, often unnoticed, natural organic forms by close up observation and reinterpretation. My main subject areas are trees, plants and vegetables I grow in the garden or find on walks. I enjoy the observation, development and the physical process involved in printing, which creates a series of problems to be solved, resulting in the final, hopefully successful, printed image.
I am a member of Reveal Printmakers, Hot Bed Press, Salford and Iron Press, Lancaster.
