The line of a fence, the texture of a hillside, the contrast between land and sky...
It is often the simple elements within a landscape that inspire my prints.

My background in graphic design continues to influence my work as I explore
the graphic forms and textures observed within the Lancastrian landscapes around
my home. Often working from memory, or simple line sketches, I tend to work on prints as part of a series. This enables me to select different elements which,
when viewed collectively, can take the viewer on a journey through the landscape.
I work predominantly in etching and collagraph, due to the physical nature
of the plates, but also enjoy the use of bold colour and instinctive mark making
when working with monoprint.
